RIP Dwayne McDuffie
Dwayne McDuffie died today of unknown causes. He leaves a lasting legacy in the world of animation. His work included: Static Shock, Ben 10: Alien Force, Teen Titans, Justice League, and Justice League Unlimited. His work on JLU helped bring a richness and coolness of the DC Universe.
Some of the best Justice League and Justice League Unlimited stories were penned by McDuffie including my favourite, "Task Force X", an episode that will have you rooting for the bad guys. Another favourite, is the direct to DVD "Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths" which was a re-worked of an unrealized script Dwayne produced for JLU TV series.

Here are some facts for approaching life drawing.
FACT 1
Don't memorize anatomy charts (Sorry I started with a don't rather than a do). Like drawing, it's best to move from general to specific. Learn skeletal sections and their muscle groups, then individual muscles and their insertions points. After which, learn what actions initiate particular mus
Gesture to volume
Is your life drawing stiffening up?
I've asked a lot of people about going from gesture to volumetric without having your work stiffen up and no one, to this day, can give me a good answer. I have received answers ranging from, "just keep at it" to an honest, forthright "I don't really know."
So here's what I've discovered.
There comes a time to toss out the mythological approaches to life drawing and just draw. In other words, find your own rhythm and incorporate into your work the knowledge gained by exercises like gesturing, box drawing, ID, etc. coupled with your knowledge of the skeleton and musculature into your work.
